Rocks Come Rocks Go
"The Lord will accomplish what concerns me; Your lovingkindness, O Lord, is everlasting; Do not forsake the works of Your hands." Psalm 138:8 NASB
This scripture was given to me when I last met with my spiritual director, before I even began to share the concerns on my heart that day. As I talked about some rocks that were recently added to my life; I also mentioned about going to San Diego to serve and be refreshed at a national retreat of sorts with the Alliance of Renewal Churches and how I was looking forward to some beach time. His suggestion to me was to take a walk on the beach with Jesus and have a conversation with Him about some of these rocks.
We arrived a day early specifically for this purpose and as the Lord would have it, He lead us to the very beach that was fitting for this conversation. There were sections of this beach covered in river rock. As I would stand at waters edge and allow the waves to come in over my feet, some rocks would roll and tumble and others would remain where they were set. Standing there with Jesus I began to share with Him some of the concerns I was having about some of the recent rocks that rolled into my shore. Continuing to observe the waves and rocks He began to share these words with me.
"Some rocks I place on the beach, some I remove. Let my waves of grace settle what will stay and what will go."
With that came His peace and I was able to open my hands to let Him remove what needed to go and settle what needed to stay. Now, there were still some steps and conversations I needed to have in the process, but He gave a peace and a confidence in knowing how to approach these rocks.
This became a very tangible experience for me to understand that "the Lord will accomplish what concerns me." It also affirms the importance of taking moments like this to recognize Jesus in moments like this and to pause in those moment to allow Him to reassure us that He is near and is concerned with our concerns.
If you have some rocks in your life that are feeling overwhelming I bless you with the knowing that "the Lord will accomplish what concerns you" as you take a moment to be with Him and lay those rocks before Him.
